Our office provides several minor procedures in our office that may avoid the need for hospitalization. This saves you time, money, and the need for general anesthesia. The procedures are performed in our Special Services Annex area. The procedures we do in the office are minor, done under local anesthetia, or IV sedation. IV sedation services are offered/performed by an experienced Board Certified/Eligible Anesthesiologist from Mobile Anesthesiologists®. Mobile Anesthesiologists® also provides our office with ICU/ER trained nurses that are critical care trained to assist our patients in their recovery.
These procedures may include:
- -Dilation & Curettage
- –Essure Tubal Ligation Technique
- -LEEP procedure
- –Myosure Fibroid and/or Polyp Removal
- –NovaSure Endometrial Ablation
Many physicians still do these procedures in the hospital but for the right patients we can safely do this in the office making the experience much less stressful and convenient for our patients by eliminating a hospital admission.
—IUD’s (Intrauterine Device)—
The intrauterine device (IUD), is a birth control device placed into a woman’s uterus by a health care provider. It is usually made of plastic or metal with a string attached. There are 2 types of IUDs. The devices that contain copper can stay in the uterus for up to 10 years. IUDs that contain the female hormone progesterone can stay in place up to 5 years. The IUD prevents pregnancy by changing the physical environment of the reproductive tract. These changes appear to prevent the egg from being fertilized or implanting and growing in the uterus. Ask your provider for more information about the IUD or you may visit their websites and/or ask for their patient brochures at your next visit to our office. Also, contact your insurance company to obtain payment information and ask about any potential authorization requirements. Our office offers the following IUDs: Mirena, Skyla, Kyleena, Liletta and the hormone free Paragard.
